If there’s one thing Tata Motors knows to do, it is to give it all till you succeed. Back when the Tata Nano came into the market, the consumer base wasn’t happy for sure, but with persistent efforts towards making the car as user friendly and comfortable as possible, Tata Motors succeeded in doing so. And with years passing, the company has managed to squeeze out cars that have hit the right chords with the consumers. And now, the latest entry seems to be the much-awaited Tata Nexon, which was showcased to the world last year at the Auto Expo. The Tata Nexon SUV will be the newest entry for the company into the SUV segment.

The Tata Nexon, though will the be the latest product in the segment; also marks the end of the vehicle platform under which the previous Tata Bolt hatchback and Zest sedan drew their body profiles from. For now, the company has stated that the Nexon SUV will be launched in September, during the festive season, to draw in more attention from the consumers. And this would be the right time as Chairman N Chandrasekaran slated that it was indeed the need of the hour for the company to turn around its domestic business. The company had faced quite a few hurdles like adequate response to competition, lack of new product launches and an unsustainable cost structure, which the Tata Nexon plans on rectifying.

“Around five years back there was nothing like compact SUV but suddenly it came from nowhere and now it is 12 per cent of the total market, which is huge,” said Mayank Pareek to PTI. He also added that the compact SUV is the fastest growing segment in the Indian car market, with an overall 180 per cent expansion recorded last year.

Pareek stated that the company was entering that very segment now and that they are quite confident that the Nexon SUV would be one of the top options for people looking for a compact SUV. The Nexon SUV will be at loggerheads with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Creta and will be priced somewhere around Rs. 7.1 lakhs to Rs. 14 lakhs.

The newest compact SUV from Tata Motors, the Nexon, comes fully equipped with features like mandatory ABS and dual airbags, JLR inspired multi-mode drives, infotainment by Harman coupled with eight speakers and four amplifiers, two brand new diesel and petrol.

“The 1.2 little petrol engine and 1.5 little diesel engine, both of which are brand new engines have been created for this car but also for our future products,” said Tata Motors President and Chief Technical Officer Tim Leverton. He also added that the Tata Nexon would be the sixth model to be launched since 2014, which includes cars like Zest, Bolt, Tiago, and the recently launched Hexa and Tigor.
