Shubh Mangal Saavadhan

There are two types of actors according to me. Some who are born with the silver spoon in their mouths, that lets them get the finest production houses and a heavily marketed film. The other includes actors who may not have that much to brag about, but prove a point to stay in the hearts of the viewers. One such actor is Ayushmann Khurrana, who found a place in the Bollywood fraternity in his first film Vicky Donor after it received a tremendous response at the box office. And off late, all of his movies have been experimental to be precise, and this one, the latest under his wing which is titled Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, which is focused on the sensitive topic, Sex.

Yes. However, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is much more than just a film about sex. And while Vicky Donor made him a sperm donor, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan focuses on a much more sensitive topic. The film revolves around the protagonist played by Ayushmann Khurrana, who suffers from erectile dysfunction. However, the film apparently also throws light into how premarital sex between two consenting adults is viewed in this current age, and how the idea of how a sexual relationship between a man and woman before marriage has changed or evolved in India.

A week ago, the film’s teaser had been released which gave us a slight glimpse into the theme of the story, which was later followed by a trailer being launched today by the man himself. The film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan also stars Bhumi Pednekar, who plays the role of Ayushmann Khurrana’s partner, and without a doubt looks to be the icing on the cake with her perfect rendition of a desi woman who does not shy away from voicing her opinion, in the trailer.

The trailer of the movie gives an insight into the characters, which is Sugandha, played by Bhumi, as the woman whose style of living is purely showcased as traditional, but yet with an open mouth, who does not keep her opinions to herself but voices them out with utmost confidence. On the other end, Mudit, played by Ayushmann Khurrana is the antonym to Sugandha, where he is the man lacking in confidence and shies away easily.

The film is said to be a remake of the Tamil comedy Kalyana Samayal Saadham that starred Prasanna and Lekha Washington. The original film was directed by RS Prasanna, who also takes on the role of the director in the Hindi remake.

Bhumi pednekar and ayushman khurana

Shubh Mangal Saavdhan would be the second movie where Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar would be seen together. The duo had earlier starred in the National award winning film Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
