The plantation drive by the DMRC is being organized by ‘Swachh Chetna- Eco Club) of the DMRC. The Swachh Chetna has been since its establishment on a drive to promote and encourage environmental conservation. The first drive began at the Jangpura Metro Station on Friday, where the top authorities like Dr. Mangu Singh, MD at DMRC and several others put a start to the plantation drive by planting samples. The event also saw children from the DMRC Children’s Home participating.
A DMRC spokesperson said, “In the coming weeks, similar plantation drives will be organised at DMRC’s depots as well as residential areas.”
And to promote environmental conservation, the DMRC has also joined hands with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to start a new venture, “Adopt a Tree”. During this initiative, the DMRC will be seen distributing free samples to every passenger across the 15 Metro Stations every Thursday and Friday throughout the month of August.
