Radeon RX VEGA 64, AMD’s next lineup of high-end VEGA GPUs will feature 8GB of HBM2 memory and up to 13.7 TFLOPS. Pricing in India is not yet confirmed, but since the RX VEGA 64 rivals the GTX 1080 expect the price to be around ₹40,000 which is the average price of a GTX 1080 in India. There will be three main variants for this GPU.

The GPUs are expected to start shipping in mid August, the formal launch is scheduled to be on 14th August.

Specifications

There are 3 main variants of the RX VEGA lineup of GPUs.

GPU Memory (GB) Core Clock (MHz) Compute Units Floating Point Performance Price                   TDP
RX Vega 56 8GB HBM2, 410GBps Bandwidth 1,156MHz (Base) 1,471MHz (Boost) 56 10.5 TFLOPS $399 USD 210W
RX Vega 64 8GB HBM2, 484GBps Bandwidth 1,247MHz (Base)

1,546MHz (Boost)

64 12.66 TFLOPS $499 USD 290W
RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition 8GB HBM2, 410GBps Bandwidth 1,406MHz (Base)

1,677MHz (Boost)

64 13.7 TFLOPS $699 USD 350W

The specifications are mentioned in the chart above. The pricing seems pretty decent, and the VEGA cards are expected to perform similar to a GTX 1080. Since NVIDIA’s G-SYNC monitors are way more expensive than AMD’s FREESYNC ones, the experience could be potentially amazing. For example, 70-80FPS with FREESYNC will actually look smoother than 90-100 without FREESYNC.

There is also mention of a RX Vega 64 Limited Edition but multiple sources state that the cooling capability is same as the normal RX Vega 64, but the limited edition features a solid metal finish which gives the graphics card a sleek look.

Performance

Since the RX Vega lineup is for the high-end market of GPUs, we can expect performance similar to NVIDIAs GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070. There have been some claims by AMD about the performance –

AMD has mentioned that the VEGA Lineup features excellent 1440p Ultrawide (3440×1440) experiences. This is very probable, and if the monitor is FREESYNC then the experience will be truly breathtaking.

Radeon Pack – Discounts on various products by AMD on purchase of VEGA Cards

  • The Radeon Black Pack includes the Radeon RX Vega 64; $200 discount on a Samsung 34-inch 1440p 21:9 Ultrawide FreeSync monitor, $100 off on Ryzen 7 CPU and motherboard combo and two games valued at $60 each.
  • The Radeon Aqua Pack includes the liquid-cooled Radeon RX Vega 64; $200 discount on the same Samsung 34-inch 1440p 21:9 Ultrawide FreeSync monitor, $100 off on Ryzen 7 CPU and motherboard combo and two games valued at $60 each.
  • The Radeon Red Pack too includes the same monitor discount, Ryzen 7 CPU and motherboard combo discount and the two games, but with a Radeon RX Vega 56 instead.

These packs seem to be of incredible value. AMD clearly does care a lot about the gamer.

Conclusion

AMD seems to be offering incredible value at this price point. In just a matter of weeks there will be some competition against NVIDIA for the high end market. Everyone seems pretty hyped for the release of Radeon RX Vega, and only time will tell if the graphics cards lived up to their hype.
