With thousands of Ola and Uber Taxi Drivers off the Hyderabad Streets till January 4 , 2017 due to the ongoing strike , the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has reportedly pressed additional buses into service on high density routes to avoid inconvenience for the public during the New Year weekend.

The TSRTC released a statement , which says , “In a view of the strike by the Ola and Uber Car Drivers in the twin cities of Hyderabad & Secunderabad , the TSRTC has made some special arrangements for providing the transportation to the public especially to those to the IT Corridor from the Bus and Railway Stations.”

It also added, “Enforcement squads have also been deployed for better surveillance of the corridors who will ensure the clearance of unnecessary traffic. Other than that the additional transportation facilities will be available till the strike by the private car owner’s association is called off till January 4.”

It was also reported that the many auto drivers were seen fleecing customers and taking advantage of the inevitable strike by the cab drivers. Customers who still choose to stick to their favourite cab Ola and Uber have had to face a high surge pricing.

Last week , the drivers under the Telangana Cab Drivers and Owners Association (TCDOA) stated they will not resume their services until their demands are met. It seems that there are several problems faced by the drivers as per the statement issued by the Taxi Drivers Association.

Drivers allege that the managements of the cab companies Ola and Uber have signed on more number of drivers – cum – owners than what is actually required , and in order to compete with which each other and to show the world that they are the leading largest cab operator in the twin cities.

Hence because of which the existing taxi drivers are not getting a sufficient number of bookings like it used to get before. And this has led the existing cab drivers unable to meet their targets set by their respective cab companies  and this has resulted in a steep decline in their earnings.

The taxi drivers who are presently on the strike are also stopping other taxis that are running in the twin cities. In the mean while , the TCDOA President Shiva Vulkundakar claimed , “several cab driers have extended their support to the strike which has taken the number of taxis that will be off the road from mere 80,000 to whopping 1 Lakh.”
