Panneerselvam is the new Tamil Nadu CM !

    Amma – is no more ! Lakhs of citizens across India are mourning J. Jayalalithaa’s demise. On the other hand , that is on the professional front , someone has to take the place of the late CM Jayalalithaa , and one of her loyal associate O. Panneerselvam has taken oath today in the early morning at around 1:15 am , just few hours after the death of the Party Chief J. Jayalalithaa at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai.

    Before taking the oath , he place the former CM Jayalalithaa’s photograph on the dais and after the completion of the oath , he took the photograph and put it into his pocket. At the time of oath , 31 other ministers also sworn along with him at the Raj Bhavan or Governor’s Residence in Chennai. It is reported that all of the members who have taken the oath are the members of the Jayalalithaa’s previous Cabinet.

    During a long winter night in Chennai , the oath ceremony happened while J. Jayalalithaa’s body was still at Apollo Hospital , which announced Amma’s death close before midnight.

    The hospital staff confirmed her death news by saying “she passed away , cardiac arrest was a big one , despite of doing everything her condition was deteriorating and we could not save her. She took her last breath at 11:30 pm on Monday , at that time she was 68 years old.”

    The body of Amma was 1st taken to her Poes Garden Residence , Chennai and then taken to the City’s Rajaji Hall , where it is kept for all the citizens to pay tribute to her. Tamil Nadu has declared 1 week holiday to mourn the death of the beloved Amma.

    O. Panneerselvam  also referred as OPS, who is 65 year old has been elected by the ruling party AIADMK’s law makers given the fact that he is a staunch loyalist of Jayalalithaa.

     OPS has taken this oath the 3rd time for the post of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and once again during difficult circumstances. Earlier , he sworn in as a stop – gap CM when Amma – Jayalalithaa had to voluntarily step down over corruption charges. The second time was 2 years ago, when his leader was arrested due to disproportionate assets case .

    And when AIADMK emerged as the ruling party in this year’s Assembly Election , OSP was made Finance Minister , making him the 1st Minister to take oath after the CM Jayalalithaa was sworn in.
