    RAHUL DRAVID former Indian cricketer and now coach and mentor of India A turns 44 today, he is regarded as one of the greatest batsman in the history of cricket. Dravid who is also popularly known as THE WALL of the Indian cricket has an outstanding journey.

    PERSONAL LIFE:

    Rahul Dravid who was born in a Marathi family on Jan 11, 1973 in Indore Madhya Pradesh. He was brought up in Bangalore; he started playing cricket when he was 12. Later he represented Karnataka at under- 15, under-17 and under-19 levels. He married to Vijeta Pendharkar in 2003, he has two sons named as Samit Dravid and Anvay Dravid..

    Mr .dependable Rahul Dravid has won hearts of people all over the world with his glorious performances, class batting on field and also with his humble nature and charming persona off the field. He is still admired as an true gentleman.

    TEST MATCH OVERVIEW

    Rahul Dravid made his international test match debut on June 20, 1996 opposite to England and his last test match was with Australia on Jan 24, 2012. Dravid played massive 164 test matches and made 13,288 runs with an average of 52.31. He hammered 36 test centuries, 63 half-centuries with  highest score of 270 runs in his name. Dravid is the Fouth –highest run scorer in test cricket after Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis.

    ODI OVERVIEW

    He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on April 3, 1996. The legend Dravid played 344 ODI matches, hitting 12 centuries and 83 half-centuries with an average of 39.17. He has 10,889 ODI runs in his kitty. He appeared his last ODI match versus England on September 16, 2011.

    Ironically, his T20 international debut match was also his last match and it was against England in august 2011.

    Dravid ended his cricket career and declared retirement from ODIs and T20 in August 2011 and in March 2012, he announced his retirement from international and first-class cricket.

    He was part of the iconic top five batsmen of Indian cricket which includes Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Dravid himself.

    Currently Rahul Dravid is acting as a coach for junior cricket team India A and under 19 teams. He is great role model for all the budding cricketers. Dravid is a epitome of class and he has been the legend of Indian batting for a long time.
