Virender Sehwag today on Social media platform Twitter backed Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur and posted saying Gurmehar Kaur has right to express her views and anyone who threatens her with violence or rape is the lowest form of life.
In a series of tweets, Virender Sehwag said his tweet mocking Kaur did not mean to bully anyone over their opinion.
The tweets came after the cricketer told reporters that his post intended for “plain fun” but was misconstrued
Kaur, the daughter of a Kashmir martryr started a campaign “ I am not afraid of ABVP’ following to last week’s violence at Delhi’s Ramjas college that involved the students group affiliated to the ruling BJP’s ideological parent Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Last year she even posted photos on FaceBook holding different placards and in such one such placards which include one that said “Pakistan did not kill my father but war did,”
Recently Virender Sehwag posted an image of his holding a placard saying: I did not score two triple centuries. My bat dis.” His tweet has created needless controversy.
Gurmehar has been receiving a string of alleged rape threats and a torrent abuse on social media. Kaur has left Delhi on Tuesday. Delhi police have lodged a case against unknown persons in the case.
