UP Election polls: Samajwadi Party ‘proposed’ 18 seats to congress


    LUCKNOW: It seems the awaited alliance is on way to happen in UP elections as Samajwadi Party (SP) Vice-President Kiranmoy Nanda said that their party has offered 18 seats to Congress party in the first three phases of the Uttar Pradesh elections. He further added that the alliance has not been called off yet. And it is on part of the Congress Party to take call on it.

    Samajwadi Party has proposed Congress party 18 seats in upcoming UP election polls only on regard to the basis of the position of their candidates in the year 2012 assembly polls. That the party is able to spare around 80 seats for Congress Party. Now it purely depends upon the call from Congress party as the party has to take a call,” he said

    Kiranmoyi Nanda further added that, “Samajwadi Party has offered Congress Party 54 seats where it has sitting MLA’s or stood second in the 2012 polls. In addition to this the party is also willing to spare yet another 20 odd seats to Congress.”

    As per Vice –President Kiranmoy Nanda, with regard to the seat-sharing formula, Samajwadi Party will contest on all the seats in Amethi and also the party can also spare one for congress in Rae Bareli. As the two districts have been strongholds for Congress so far. Samajwadi Party said that if the alliance happens then the party will withdraw and adjust the candidates on seats as that it should go to Congress and candidates have been announced by the party
