In what would be a major relief to every single Indian citizen, the RBI has finally given permission to print Rs 200 notes. Sources close to the RBI revealed that the printing process is expected to get underway in the month of June. The advent of Rs 2000 notes has brought a lot of inconvenience among various factions as no one seemed to have change for these notes. The emergence of these new Rs 200 notes is going to relieve a lot of people and will make currency transactions a lot easier.

According to sources, the proposal to introduce Rs 200 notes was agreed upon in March and the printing of these notes is likely to start in June, once the Modi government nods it’s approval. This decision was arrived at after a deep, thought provoking discussion between the 14 members of the RBI central board, which includes governor, Urjit Patel, Economic affairs secretary, Shaktikanta Das, Financial services secretary, Anjuly Chib Duggal, and four other deputy governors.

Last November, the RBI underwent a massive revolution after approximately 86 percent of the active currency was scrapped due to demonetization. This was when the old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes were taken out of circulation and the new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes were brought in to circulation. Given the large currency value of the Rs 2000 notes people often found it difficult to make their payments using these notes. That’s when there were a lot of calls for the introduction of the Rs 200 notes which in all probbilty would become a reality very soon.
