A young jawan of Central Industrial Security Force(CISF), Suresh Vijay Gaekwad committed suicide by shooting himself at Kempe Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Monday. Suresh used his service rifle, a 5.56 INSAS, for shooting himself near gate number one of the Bengaluru airport.
Dr. PS Harsha who is the DCP North East said family dispute is the main reason for alleged suicide. He said “He was undergoing the pain of divorce, and hence he took this extreme step,”
A police source informed that Gaekwad came for duty around 6 am at watch tower 7 near the runway. Gaekwad’s senior colleague Venkatesh pressed the alarm to call Gaekwad around 8.30am.After getting no response from him, he himself went up the tower and found Gaekwad lying in a pool of blood.
Body was shifted to Ambedkar hospital for post mortem and Kempegowda Airport police were alerted about the incident at 9.15am.Police reached the spot and conducted spot investigation.
Police confirmed there was no suicide note found near the spot.Further details like bullet matches with Gaekwad’s rifle, its entry and exit point, and the distance from which the bullet was fired will be revealed through the forensic report.
