Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has today carried out some surprise checks or so called raids at 4 Post Offices (PO) in Hyderabad , after receiving several complaints about irregularities in the exchange as well as distribution of currency notes post the demonetisation move.
The CBI sources have said that the operation is still going on and the details are private so cannot be divulged. One of the insider have stated that , “agency is carrying out its surprise check in support of the Postal Department , cannot say anything more about it.”
Our sources also claim that this action was taken when the Agency received complaints that some officials have been favouring selected group of people in exchanging and distributing the new currency notes since November 9.
Complaints were made on other irregularities as well and the source also reveals that this so called “surprise check” have been carried out to identify the norms which are being violated by some officials , only after which the agency could recommend any further action that needed to be taken , if required an FIR could also be registered.
Till now sources have not revealed any information of how many more post offices will be a part of this surprise check operation and it is estimated that this check operation will be carried out throughout the night.
It is needless to say that since 10th of November , not only Banks but the Post Offices were collecting the demonetised currency notes as well. They are also disbursing valid bank notes and are also taking deposits from their savings account holders.
