AAP led Delhi Govt will install 3775 CCTV in DTC Buses

Aam Aadmi Party led govt will install around 3700 CCTV cameras in DTC buses including 1275 air conditioned low floor buses. These buses were introduced by Sheila Dixit around 5 years back and got successful trials in Delhi roads. Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM is repeatedly saying that they are trying to make Delhi a better place and this could be considered as a step to improve Delhi.

CCTV Cameras trial was done by Delhi govt in over 15-20 buses plying in different roads of Delhi, most of the cameras are fitted in the top of the bus after stairs so that no one can easily damage the cameras. The latest CCTV are round in shape with around 30 cm in diameter and have in built recording feature. However it was not clarified by the govt that whether the recording shall be monitored online or not.

The CCTV’s shall get approval for all buses after the successful trial this time, earlier Arvind Kejriwal has deployed home guards in DTC buses for women security. However its very hard to catch a bus with a home guard in Delhi.

First phase of trial consists of monitoring around 10 buses with the different CCTV cameras and the best camera which was chosen by the Chief Minister staff shall be deployed in the DTC Low Floor buses.  Second Phase will install 3750 cameras in Delhi Buses and the third phase shall include the work of monitoring each bus with the CCTV cameras.

“To ensure safety of women in DTC’s buses, government has decided to install CCTV cameras in non-AC and AC low-floor buses.We will start the process of installing CCTV cameras in two months,” Gopal Rai, Transport Minister of Delhi said.
