Intel will launch their 8th generation processors next month, and enthusiasts will be excited to know that the flagship Core i7-8700K is an excellent overclocker.

The Overclock

Intel’s Core i7-8700K was overclocked to 5.3GHz on an MSI KRAIT Z370 Motherboard according to a Chinese Source. The proof is in the below image:-

 

Low Voltage of Coffee Lake Processors?

EXP Review’s report says that the i7-8700K along with other Coffee Lake CPUs will have a very low voltage. This means that there is a ton of headroom for overclocking, but after 5.0GHz there could be problems. This is because of Intel’s usage of Thermal Interface Material (TIM) instead of solder.
