Mumbai Half Marathon flagged off by Sachin Tendulkar today; More than 15,000 people participated


If you are a health freak, and have done everything you can, or at least try to keep yourself fit and see others fit, you must have known about the second edition of the Mumbai Half Marathon that was flagged off at 5.45 AM today. The Mumbai Half Marathon began from Bandra Kurla Complex, R2 Grounds, behind NSE.

The 10K run, a part of the Mumbai Half Marathon started at 7.00 AM and the 5K Run at 7.45 AM. To give it the necessary boost and importance, none other than the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar made his presence at the starting point to flag off the Marathon at Bandra Kurla Complex, R2 Grounds, behind NSE.

As per sources, a count of more than 15,000 participants and 22 pacers took part in the Marathon that was spread across several categories that showcased the passion and zest for fitness. During the initial promotion, the half marathon saw registrations jump up to 6000 for the 21K marathon, and 6000 entries for the 10K marathon.

The city was on closure especially on the BKC route between 5 AM and 9 AM. For runners, a total of aid stations that offered water and energy drinks was made available to keep themselves hydrated. Volunteers and medical support were also available at every 100mts for medical emergencies. Apart from these, medical stations were also available that were fully equipped to meet emergencies. The stations had ambulances, doctors, and nurses throughout the route.

The Mumbai Half Marathon associated with the Mumbai Road Runners and Greensoles. While the Mumbai Road Runners sponsored 400 running shoes to underprivileged runners, Greensoles provided recycled shoes for the underprivileged people.
