Hyderabad Lab Develops Zika Virus Vaccine

Zika Fever, Known  As Zika Virus Disease, is an disease   caused by the Zika virus  similar to Dengue Fever  symptoms include  fever, red eyes, joint pain, headache, and a maculopapular rashIn general, symptoms are mild and last less than seven days.

Zika fever is mainly spread by the bite of mosquitoes of the Aedes type.It can also be potentially spread by sex and blood transfusions disease may spread from mother-to-child in the womb and cause microcephaly.

This virus that causes the disease was first isolated in 1947.The first  outbreak among people occurred in 2007 in the Federated States of Micronesia.As of January 2016 the disease was occurring in twenty regions of the Americas.including several countries around the world. WHO has declared global health emergency as more than 25 Latin American and African countries have reported the outbreak.

 Hyderabad Discoverd a Vaccine for Zika Virus this is considered  to be first in the world scientist announced  that they have developed a vaccine that can annihilate the zika virus which is rampant in several countries across the world.

The discovery was done in  Bharat Biotech International Limited- situated at shameerpet in the genome valley in the outskirts has made this achievement.

‘Ours is the first vaccine company in the world to file a vaccine patent nearly nine months ago’ Dr Krishna Ella , Chairman and MD of Bharat Biotech said.

“ In fact we have developed two vaccines using a live Zika virus which we have imported officially. But the clinical trials both on the animal and human fronts will take a long time. We need government support and ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) has agreed to help” Mr Krishna added

Million doses of vaccine in about four months can be developed and  imported to all the countries in the world where the virus has rampat  said the researchers.

“Prime Minister Modi should clear off all administrative bottlenecks so that the vaccine development and production can be fast-tracked,” is expected by the researchers.
