Telanaga: BJP (Bhartiya Janata Party) president K. Laxman on Saturday stood against the Government’s Muslim reservation bill by saying the BJP-led NDA government will not accept the proposal of such bill. According to the bill, 12% reservations are to be given to Muslims community. But, the BJP president stood against it as it is against the Constitutional principle of not allowing religion- based reservation.
Laxman while attending the part meeting made it clear that the party will not stand for such reservations. He said at the meeting, “Reservation is meant for the downtrodden and deprived communities and should be provided in accordance with the Constitutional provisions”. He also clarified by saying, “Enhancement in Muslim reservation percentage will eat into the quota for BC (backward classes) and they will be at the losing end,”
Dr laxman launched a signature campaign against the reservation of 12% Muslim proposal. It was launched at Ambedkar chaowrasta in sangareddy district headquarters.
By giving the reference of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, K.Laxman said during constituent debate that the religion based reservation in the country will destroy and create divisional mindset in the society. He asked BJP at centre to not accept this proposal of this reservation.
In this matter Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had said in this matter,” The state government had appointed a Commission earlier for conducting a study of social and economic status of Muslims and the panel has submitted its report to get into right decision”
