After a phenomenal performance in the recently concluded test series against New Zealand in India, Ravichandran Ashwin has become Virat Kohli’s strike bowler and it is a wish for each and every captain to have a such kind of bowler who has the knack of removing the opposition’s best batsmen. With the current form he is in, he will be definitely make life a hell for the Australians & the English cricketers who will be visiting India in the coming months.
Ravichandran Ashwin has marvellous test record. He has 220 wickets in just 39 matches and he is 3rd fastest bowler to take 100 wickets in a test match which he did in 18 matches. In total he has 7 man of the match series awards of which he the astonishing feat of 4 consecutive awards which can be turned into five against England when they visit India in this winter. He often takes wickets in quick succession thus leaving the opposition team at sixes and sevens.
By seeing his statistics and records in test cricket many will term him as a living legend but some differ from this thing after segregating his statistics of wickets taken in Indian sub-continent and other countries. Out of his total wickets he has taken 178 wickets in Indian sub-continent pitches out of which 154 have been in India and has taken only 42 wickets at overseas (apart from Indian sub-continent pitches). He always had a miserable outing in countries like Australia, England & South Africa where pitches are more of seamer friendly. According to the ICC’s Future Tour Program, India will be visiting Australia, England & South Africa somewhere between November 2017 to December 2018. During this period Ashwin will have to perform and silent his critics. If he performs extremely well during that time, then he will definitely be called a legend.
