A 35 year old man named Sanjay Nutt sacrificed his life and submitted himself to the Goddess by slitting his throat with a sharp knife on the premises of the famous Chinnamastika Temple at Rajrappa in the Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district on Tuesday as per the PTI reports.
Sanjay Nutt hailed from Buxar in Bihar and came to the Chinnamastika Temple in the morning alone , offered prayers on the temple at Rajrappa and then slashed his throat with a sharp knife at the gate of the Chinnamastika Temple. He died on the spot by killing himself on the premises of Chinnamastika Temple at Rajrappa in the Ramgarh district of Jharkhand.
Sanjay entered the Chinnamastika temple along with a few devotees at 6 am and when the shrine was opened for the darshan , he finished his puja, went back to sanctum sanctorium & stood at a place from where he could clearly see the deity inside the Chinnamastika Temple reports The Times of India.

Subhashish Panda , one of the members of Chinnamastika temple’s Priest Committee told the newspaper Times of India that Sanjay was chanting mantras to himself and then suddenly took out a dagger from his gamcha and slit his throat with it.
The Rajrappa temple is dedicated to the headless deity of Goddess Chinnamastika who holds a scimitar in one hand and her severed head in the other hand. This temple is referred as the Shakti Peeth in the ancient Hindu Scriptures.
According to the family members of Sanjay Nutt , he was a very strong believer of Chinnamastika Goddess and often talked about leaving this world to be with the Goddess in the world hereafter , as per the reports published by Hindustan Times.
This centuries old Chinnamastika Temple is located at about 70km from Ranchi and sees frequent sacrifices of sheep and goats by the Goddess’ devotees.

A temple preist told the newpaper Times of India that the tantriks have had visited the temple and offered their blood by pricking their fingers with a sharp object during Puja on various occasion.
The temple priest said, “Here many tantriks come here to offer pujas during the Amavasyas and offer their blood by pricking their fingers and today’s incident is an unprecedented one.”
This Sanjay Nutt sacrifice incident at the Chinnamastika Temple , Jharkhand triggered a panic among the devotees , following which the darshan was closed down for almost 4 hours before it opened for other devotees.
