In a fire break down at the Reliance Industries Ltd Refinery at Jamnagar , Gujarat which claimed 2 lives of the contract workers and nearly other 6 workers were critically injured on early Thursday morning.
The District Police Control Room of Jamnagar said that the fire broke out at the RIL Complex in Moti Khavdi Village at around 3 am soon after a leakage of gas . It is reported that 8 workers have suffered severe burns and were rushed to the nearby Government hospital in the Jamnagar City.
The G .G Hospital confirms this by saying , “8 workers are admitted to the hospital , and 2 of them have died . Remaining 6 are shifted to the ICU for the further treatment.”
The RIL spokesperson said in a statement that , “unit where the fire broke out was under steady maintenance and now the fire has been put off.” He also adds , “there was flashes of fire in one of the units which was under the maintenance shutdown at our Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) refinery. While the fire brigade by Reliance extinguished the fire within some time , till then this breakdown already took 2 lives and had grievously burned 6 contract workers.”
He signed off by saying , “we are doing our best and the injured contract workers have been shifted to the higher care unit for better medical treatment. Whereas all the other operations at the refinery will continue as it used to be at its normal pace.”
