The cyber crime wing of Telangana’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested American citizen James Kirk Jones in Hyderabad for downloading and uploading child pornography.
James 42 –year old US citizen, who was working with an MNC law firm in Hyderabad since 2010, was arrested in Hyderabad. The cybercrime wing received a tip-off about an IP address from which content related to child pornography in the form of videos and images was shared.
Statement from Police department has said James native of New Jersey, even confessed before the department that since childhood he had been watching child pornography and also circulated the content has become a habit for him. Police registered a case and booked under section 67A & B of the Information Technology Act.2000.
Police traced the IP address to reach James Kirk Jones’ residence in Madhapur in the Information Technology district Cyberabad. Police also recovered a laptop which contained around 29,288 items related to child sexual abuse materials (CSAM). The materials has been seized by the police and it will also be sent to Forensic laboratory for further examination of the videos and images which contains child Porn. Apart from this they also recovered an iPhone and an external drive containing adult pornography, 490 GigaTribe profiles and 24 twitter handles/profiles sharing content related to child pornography.
The twitter handlers and GigaTribe profiles are further being probed to know if any of such content is circulated and if any of the profiles belong to India. Further, the case would be informed to US embassy and Interpol.
