Tintin, this character hardly needs any introduction and probably there’s none who haven’t heard of him . Yes, Tintin is an immortal creation of Herge and who had captivated our youth through his adventures in different parts of the world.
Herge created the character in 1929 and introduced him in Le Petit Vingtième, a weekly youth supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle .The Author painted the character of Tintin to be plain and simple - he appears to be a young man with round face and a quiff hairstyle .It is the Intellect , honesty and other human virtues that make Tintin so adorable to it reader .
Probably I was 5 years old when my dad bought me “Tintin in America” from an overcrowded stall of “Ananda Publishers” in Kolkata Book Fair and that was the beginning.

One of the main character other than Tintin was, of course, his pet dog Snowy . If Sherlock had Watson the Tintin had snowy, an apt assistant. Many times it was snowy who had saved Tintin from near death situations .
Though the character first appeared in the book " Adventures of Tintin in the Land of Soviets" , the most famous being "Tintin in America" , "Red Rackham's treasure" , "The prisoners of the Sun" and of course "Explorers on the moon" .
As far as I remember my 2nd book of this series was “Tintin in the land of black gold ” where I first met the hilarious character of Captain Haddock and absolutely his creative curses . "Thousands of Blistering Barnacles" being the best one.
The other noteworthy characters are being Thomson and Thompson, Prof. Calculus, General Tapioca, General Alcazar, Madame Castafiore and the list goes on.
I still remember how we used to fight for a copy of Tintin Comics in my school library during the reading hours. I still wish someday I would have all the collection of Tintin comics .
