Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the much awaited sub-compact SUV, has been finally unveiled on 3rd February at the Auto Expo 2016. The Vitara Brezza marks the country’s largest carmaker’s entry into the highly-competitive sub-compact SUV segments.
Vitara Brezza compact SUV is To be positioned below the S-Cross premium crossover, the Maruti’s first ever sub-4 meter all-new Vitara Brezza will also be the SUV in the Indian market. This sub-4 meter SUV will be launched a few weeks later from now within expected price range of Rs. 7 lakh – Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price, the upcoming sub-compact SUV will take on head on the current compact SUV Mmarket ,Unlike the S-Cross crossover and Baleno premium hatchback, the Maruti Vitara Brezza will be sold through the regular Maruti dealerships.
The Vitara Brezza is also the first product from Maruti that is fully developed in India by its in-house R&D team. The India-made model will be exported to overseas markets like Japan.
Speaking to a publishing media, CV Raman, Executive Director, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki, said that the all decisions and judgments on the Vitara Brezza were taken by Maruti’s Indian R&D team, and no validations were taken from Suzuki’s global team.

The SUV comes with a anti-lock-braking system with electronic brake force distribution and dual front airbags as standard across model series.
Since the SUV does not fall in Maruti’s premium line-up, it is priced competitively and will be retailed from the regular Maruti outlets instead of Nexa.
This sub-4 meter SUV will be available in six trim levels – LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi and ZDi+ – all of them will be powered by the Ciaz’s 1.3-litre, 89bhp, diesel engine. Transmission duties will be performed by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Though, an AMT unit could also be on offer. The vehicle’s higher trim (ZDi) is equipped with Smartplay infotainement with CarPlay, inbuilt navigation with Mapcare, reverse parking camera and cruise control with steering mounted controls. While the base variant LDi comes equipped with Bluetooth-enabled audio system, speed sensitive door locks and driver airbag protection along with an additional SUV body-kit, the optional and higher variants get passenger airbag and ABS with EBD.

Petrol variants are likely to be available in two engine choices including a 1.2 litre and a 1.4 litre motors.
Diesel engines will initially be offered in Fiat sourced 1.3 litre Multi-jet engine followed by a new diesel engine developed by the company later.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza will only come in diesel trim and will be offered in a total of six variants – LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi and ZDi+.The vehicle has been designed and developed within three and half years, which is exactly the same duration taken by an integrated R&D team of Maruti and Suzuki to develop a vehicle.
